July 3rd-July 6th-Colorado

Since most of my family lives in Colorado, we try to go out there a few times during the year to see everyone. We decided that the 4th of July weekend was a good time to go because our nephew, Parker, was going to be baptized and all of my family was also going to go camping over the holiday weekend.

We got there on Thursday night and the kids did pretty good on the drive out. We spent most of Friday getting ready to go up on the mountain camping and got there just in time to set up the tent trailer and go to bed. Saturday morning was the Rye Ward's annual 4th of July pancake breakfast held at the church. We got up extra early that morning and drove down the mountain just in time to eat. There were a lot of people there that I grew up with and it was fun to sit and visit with them.

After the breakfast we had just enough time to go to my parent's house and get ready for Parker's baptism. Parker actually turned eight in April, but he waited to get baptized in July because he wanted to get baptized in the same creek that my Grandad Ealey was baptized in and the water would have been way to cold in April. From the look on Parker's face when he came out of the water, it was pretty cold even in July!

On Sunday, the 4th, we went up to Blue Lakes and some people fished a little and the kids ran around for awhile. We then headed back to camp for lunch and to rest. That night we went over to West Cliff for the local fireworks show. It was so windy when we first got there but it finally died down once it got dark. Amy loved the fireworks at first but then some kids next to us were acting afraid so then Amy wanted to hide under the blanket or go inside of the truck. She ended up staying outside with us the whole time though. Hailey liked to look at the fireworks but towards the middle she fell asleep and didn't really care about the loud noise.

On Monday we spent the morning cleaning up camp and packing up our stuff to head down the mountain. We were so tired and dirty by the time we got to my parent's house. After a quick shower we decided that instead of staying the night in Rye we would head up to Ft. Collins and stay with my sister and her family for the night so that we wouldn't have such a long drive the next day. It worked out well and I think the girls were happy that they didn't have to sit in the truck for 10 plus hours.

We had a great time with my family and I loved being able to spend so much time with them.
