August 14th, 2010-Utah's Hogle Zoo

My parents made a quick trip from Colorado to bring some furniture for me and my sister Mandy. The furniture is out of my grandma's house (Gammy) that my mom has been taking care of ever since my grandma passed away in 2007. The house is being rented out right now and my grandma's old stuff needed to go some place else. Anyway, Mom and Dad loaded up the truck and headed to Utah for the weekend. Amy was so excited when they pulled up on Friday night. She had been talking about them coming all week long and was excited to give Grandma Doe Doe some birthday balloons and cupcakes since it was her birthday that day. (We have been singing Happy Birthday to the dogs, Amy, Hailey, and everyone else since then!)

My parents had to leave on Sunday morning so we decided that we wanted to do something fun on Saturday while they were here. Amy has really been into 'Dora The Explorer' lately and we got an advertisement in the mail for a Dora Birthday party at Wal-Mart that was happening on Saturday. It was about the best birthday party you would expect to have at a Wal-Mart, but Amy got a cupcake, Dora ring, free picture, and a Dora birthday present, (thanks Mom and Dad) so she was pretty happy about it.

After lunch, (we tried to go to the Blue Plate Diner, but it was way too busy, so we ate at Wendy's instead) we headed to the Hogle Zoo. It was crowded, hot, and Amy had some sort of crazy rash going on that day, but we had fun anyway. Hailey was such a good baby and loved riding in the stroller. Amy had fun looking at all of the animals, but was almost more interested in people watching and standing in front of the big fans instead.

I was happy to spend the time with my parents and sad that they couldn't stay for longer. It is nice that they are only a days drive away though and we get to see each other a few times during the year, although that is not nearly enough.
