Easter- April 2012

For Easter this year we decided to make the trek to Colorado and spend time with my side of the family.  There was a lot more than Easter going on that weekend, so it was a good time for us to make the visit.  We were only there for the weekend, and packed a whole bunch into our days.
On Saturday, April 7th, we went to one of the local high schools for Easter activities.  The kids played games, had their faces painted, and went on an egg hunt.  There was a lot going on and the kids had a ton of fun.

Later that afternoon we headed to the cemetery where Shauna's twins, Josh and Luke, are buried, to help set up luminaries at each grave site.  It is something Shauna's family has done the past few years since Josh and Luke were buried there.  Shauna's family has some amazing support each year they participate.  They had friends come and help, along with my mom and dad and Chauncy's mom and dad.  It was an amazing experience for our family, and one that I hope to participate in again.  After all of the luminaries were placed we went inside for dinner.  When it was getting dark everyone went back outside to light the candles.  It was kind of windy so it was hard to get the candles to stay lit, and then it didn't help when Hailey was going behind everyone and blowing the candles out!  We then headed back to Shauna's to dye Easter eggs.  Once the kids were cleaned up and it was dark out, we went back to the cemetery to see all of the luminaries lit up.  It was an amazing site to see!

Sunday morning, April 8th, the kids were up early to see if the Easter Bunny had stopped by.  They were all so excited to see what was inside each basket.  It was kind of crazy for a little while, but it was fun to watch all of the excitement!  It was also my dad's birthday that day so we sang to him over his birthday cinnamon roll!

We then headed South to Missy's for an Easter egg hunt with the cousins.  The girls had fun running around finding the eggs and Trey had a good time hanging out with his Aunts.  Not only was it Easter Sunday and my dad's birthday, but it was also the day that my nephew, Preston, received the Priesthood.  We were all able to go to church with the Smith Family to be there for Preston's important day.  It was nice to be there with most of the family.  We missed Mandy's family not being able to be there with us though.

We had a great weekend overall and it was fun to do so many things in such a short amount of time, although we missed spending Easter with the Oaks side of the family.
